Australia and England stars to miss IPL 2020 start

Top cricketers of Australia’s and England’s cricket team will probably miss the start of the Indian Premier League 2020. To specify, the reason behind this a six -match series between the two countries starting in September. Australia tour England from 4 September, and this tour will end just three days before the start of the world’s richest T20 league. The tour will conclude with an ODI on 16 September, while the IPL 2020 will begin on 19 September.

Now that the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the tournament out of India, the players will undergo a week’s isolation. Further, Covid -19 testing will be done before the players join their respective teams. Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK told quarantine rules will see a number of English and Australian players “will miss two or three games”. In addition, he also said that only after this the players will be able to join the teams and start training.

Which players can miss IPL?

A combined total of 29 players from Australia and England are part of the eight IPL teams. To elaborate, Warner, Ben Stokes, Cummins (this year’s record buy), Buttler, Steve Smith are amongst the names who can miss start of IPL. Specifically, players will not be available atleast for first two or three matches for respective franchises. Most probably, Rajasthan Royals will suffer the maximum because of absence of Steve Smith, Buttler and Jofra Archer.On the other hand, Andrew McDonald won’t go to England, and will join RR in UAE. Currently, he is Australia’s senior assistant coach and also the head coach of Rajasthan Royals.
