The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is a domestic T20 cricket tournament held in the Caribbean every year. Currently, Hero MotoCorp is the sponsorer of CPL and thus the name Hero CPL. The CPL was started back in the year 2013. Consequently, the 2020 CPL will be the eighth season.
Titles and Leading players
First season (2013) of CPL was won by Jamaica Tallawahas. Now, Barbados Tridents are the defending champions at CPL 2020. On the other hand, Trinbago Knight Riders is the most successful team in CPL possessing 3 titles. Furthermore, Chris Gayle is leading the batsman with 2354 runs and Dwayne Bravo is leading the wicket taker with 97 wickets.

About CPL 2020
CPL is going to witness its eighth season in 2020. Earlier, the matches were scheduled to be played in six different countries. Below are the names of those six countries
Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Barabados, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis and lastly Saint Lucia. But, due to this COVID -19 pandemic, a request was made to play all the matches at a single venue i.e. Trinidad. Finally, CPL 2020 is set to begin from 19 August 2020 and will conclude on 26 September 2020. However, the schedule of the fixtures is not yet released.
Format of CPL
Firstly, six teams participate in CPL every year. Basically, the tournament is divided into two stages namely group stage and knockout stage. Next, each team gets to play 10 matches in the group stage. In playoffs, three matches are played – two semi -finals and one final.
