Yes, there is a high possibility of India vs South Africa in August 2020. According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is being put under pressure to get India play an international series. Undoubtedly, the demand is to play an international series before the start of IPL 2020 i.e. before 20 September 2020.

Recently, the Indian Board has already cancelled few of its international series due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. To illustrate, these include the limited- overs contest against South Africa. Furthermore, the BCCI has cancelled team India’s matches against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe also. On the other hand, a good news for all the cricket fans is that IPL 2020 is set to take place in UAE, starting in the last week of September.

India vs South Africa 2020

Now, because of the pressure from BCCI stakeholders, India will most probably play against South Africa in August. Further, this will be a 3 T-20 match series but will not be a part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP) schedule. South Africa will be hosting this series as discussed earlier in February. This series will also play a key role in generating significant revenue for South Africa. For instance, this series will be most probably played late in August. The reason behind the same is the Indian players will get sufficient time to practice for IPL 2020.

Indian Cricket Team Training

Meanwhile, the Indian players are about to regroup at Montera Stadium, Ahmedabad for a national training camp in coming weeks. Specifically, in this camp all the players are set to undergo a rigorous training session.
During this lockdown, the players have only been working on their fitness at home. Fitness is equally important but the players have had almost no cricketing in past months. Optimistically, this training session will help them to rediscover their lost touch and prepare strongly for the upcoming tournaments.

Certainly, England vs West Indies test series has marked the return of international cricket. Additionally, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be hosting Pakistan from the first week of August. Hopefully, India vs South Africa T-20 series will mark the return of India in international cricket.
To conclude, India’s upcoming cricketing schedule this year is of big concern. For now, it seems ike the Australia tour at the year end will be the only bilateral series for Virat Kolhi and team.
