To specify, the Australian and England players will not miss the starting matches of IPL 2020. Now, the reason behind this is that the players  undergo “stringent” testing processes once they land in the UAE.

  • The group of players from both teams, participating in IPL will reach UAE on 17 September 2020.
  • The Indian players in the RCB squad will land in UAE on 21 August 2020.
  • Further, the rumours of South African players not able to play IPL were cleared. To elaborate, AB de Villiers, Chris Morris and Dale Steyn will also join the RCB squad by 22 August.

Earlier, the protocols for players were a strict 7 -days quarantine before joining their squads in UAE. Also, in these 7 days, the players are supposed to clear three Covid -19 tests before they can start training. Because of these protocols, the English and Australian players could have missed starting two or three matches for their respective teams. However, IPLs final Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are different from earlier ones and the players will probably not miss the starting matches.

Rules for Australian and English players for IPL 2020

The 29 players from Australia – England series will have to follow strict protocols. Clearly, this is to ensure they seamlessly pass from England to UAE. Specifically, players landing on 17 September in UAE can play without quarantine, if they satisfy certain very stringent conditions. Referring to the condition, Churiwala said they are really very, very stringent.
If any member from this travelling group breaks any protocol, the person will have to fulfill different conditions. After landing in UAE, that person need to complete six -day quarantine period. Including this quarantine, clearing three Covid -19 tests is compulsory before joining the squad.

To conclude, the whole IPL committee is trying to keep safety as the first priority. Along with it, they are compromising with some rules so that none of the players miss any match. Finally, there is high probability that none of the players from Australia – England series will miss any match, provided they fulfill all the conditions
